Where are you from and what do you do?
I am originally from a distant seaside land known as Hastings. I am an illustrator and a graffiti/street artist, but I also work with film, animation, sculpture and any other medium I feel will communicate my messages.

How do you go about creating your characters? Do you reference imagery from wildlife or children’s books, or are they a pure figment of your imagination?
They come from daydreaming, the most fertile region seems to be the borderland between sleep and full awakening, where the matrices of disciplined thought are already operating, but have not yet sufficiently hardened to obstruct the dreamlike fluidity of the imagination. Those states of limbo combined with a lot of children’s books, nursery rhymes, aesops fables, proverbs and folklore.

What is your favourite working environment?
In my studio surrounded by all my patterns, drawings, old found objects & materials, with my music on loud and some cider in hand. I am also just as happy painting an old derelict wall.

Do your characters have names and stories, or do they stand alone?
Yes, they do have stories or lives if you will. If you read the Hiku’s that go along side them you can kind of understand and imagine their background stories and emotions.

Do you have any plans for the future?
I am planning to paint outside more, and I have a new solo show this year. I have some new prints and woodcuts coming out, some magazine features, and I am currently working on some other projects that I can’t mention at this moment in time! Keep your eyes peeled!
